Pulped Natural

This coffee processing method was first notably used in Brazil and India in the 1990s. This method is a hybrid of the ‘washed’ and ‘natural’ process. Like the washed method, the cherries are immediately pulped (crushed) to separate the beans from the cherry. But then, then allowing the remaining fruit to dry whilst still attached to the beans (as per the natural method), rather than washing it off. This process allows some of the benefits of the transfer of fruit to the bean, resulting in an increased body and sweetness. This method can also reduced some of the earthy tones of some natural processed Brazilian coffees.
